What is Performance Rating Factor in a manufacturing unit? How to Calculate Performance Rating?
Is every operator of same operation doing same production?
If same style running in several lines then also doing same
or not?
For the maximum operator, answer will be no. Only few operator
will do as per standard rate & very few operator may do more than the
standard.
What is the reason behind this? How do you classified them?
For example, one
operator achieve 100% & another operator achieve 75% in the same process.
That means 2nd operator is working actually at a slower pace
compared to a 100% standard operator.
- Machine same
- Method same
- Machine speed same
- Workstation organize also same
But if an operator use less machine speed, excess motion
than the standard then definitely he/she will achieve less & that is called Rating.
Simply we can express:
How efficiently
he/she complete the task based on standard is called rating.
To measure the pace of work & determine standard time for
the slower operator should perform is the main objective.
For example: Operation target is 120 pcs. Operator A is
using 0.5 Min & Operator B is using 0.59 Min to complete their task means B
is performing at 85 % rating. So if we give rating to the operator B then the
calculation is-
0.59*85%
=0.5 Min (Equal to standard time).
So, Equation of Performance Rating
For example, using of above data,
=85%

Note:
To calculate performance rating, experience is very
important because it is a subject to
compare with the standard performance. First have to know standard time of that
process to compare with observe time to get rating of his/her. If 3 work-study
officer give rating on Operator A, it may vary with each other. The
more you study, the more your rating will perfect. So without proper experience reading of rating
will not Accurate. Rating is a tool that is used to assess the speed and
effectiveness of a worker or employee performing a specific task.
To know the use of rating to get basic time then
Very helpful post.
