Improve Productivity in 20 Ways

Productivity:

The ratio between Output & input is called productivity. Productivity emphasizes the process to produce particular product. Productivity is a very familiar word in any production based organization. Every management always emphasizes to increase productivity because profit margin mostly depends on productivity in RMG Industry. Higher productivity higher margin of profit. Increasing productivity can reduce manufacturing cost. So a factory can be more profitable by increasing productivity.

 

Manpower, time, machinery & materials (Panel & all accessories) are the main resources for produce a product. To increase productivity, ensure maximum utilization of all resources. (Labor Productivity & machine Productivity).

Here are some important ways to improve productivity:

 

1.       Introduce proper layout.

2.       All the materials/Accessories are in-house on time. As per planned date.

3.       Need proper plan & execute at floor.

4.       Set the proper target because wrong target always hampered production.

5.       Follow up production hourly basis. Ask question those are performing below target. When you checked it on regular basis then they will be under pressure & will think if I not hit target – my supervisor will come again to me. So it will force him to do the job. Everyone should under the observation/monitoring of supervisor & IE.

6.       Balance the line very properly. In a balanced line, work will flow smoothly & no one will wait for work so no lost time for waiting.

7.       Ensure fault free panels input in line. Faulty panels sometimes increase cycle time to complete the process and sometimes causes of quality fail. Both kill the valuable working time.

8.       Train the low efficient operator, motivate them, and show them videos of high skilled operator.

9.       Conduct Method Study, eliminate extra motion to simplify the process.

10.   Reduce lost time. Non-productive time such as waiting for work, machine breakdown, power failure, and alter repair kill your valuable time. There is no better alternative than just stopping operators sitting idle to improve operator productivity. We need to use their time 100%.

11.   Ensure Continues Input/feeding to minimize operator idle time. Similar style line plan always hit pick production early & decrease learning curve time.

12.   Ensure attendance as per planned.

14.   Explain incentive scheme very properly to the operator because it will force the people to work. Can show to them the calculated salary like if they earn highest incentive + attendance bonus+OT+gross salary & total will be a handsome income. Naturally operator motivation comes through extra income in garments industry.

15.   Reduce Changeover time.

16.   Train the low efficient operator, motivate them, show videos them of high skilled operator.

17.   Train line supervisor also because maximum supervisor are negative minded. They are not accept new things positive ways. Communication part also need to improve as well.

18.   Use Automatic machines instead of manual machine to increase machine productivity.

19.   Create good working environment. People will work with self-motivation if they satisfy to work there.

20.   The right leadership quality of supervisors, APms, PMs, etc.

 

Think always-

·   Increase output by keeping same input ( Manpower, Working Hour).

·   Keep same output but Reduce input.

·   Increase output by reducing the input.

Every minute is countable and more important in production sector because time is considered as money. Increasing productivity is not only the responsibilities of production team. Need to work as a team of every department to achieve it.
